NTSB released FINAL REPORT on Colgan 3407
« on: February 25, 2010, 08:24:06 PM »
"In the Board Meeting on Feb 2nd the NTSB adopted the following 46 findings, probable cause and 25 recommendations and released their final report on Feb 25th:"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Probable Cause:

The National Transportation Safety Board determines that the probable cause of this accident was the captain’s inappropriate response to the activation of the stick shaker, which led to an aerodynamic stall from which the airplane did not recover. Contributing to the accident were (1) the flight crew’s failure to monitor airspeed in relation to the rising position of the low-speed cue, (2) the flight crew’s failure to adhere to sterile cockpit procedures, (3) the captain’s failure to effectively manage the flight, and (4) Colgan Air’s inadequate procedures for airspeed selection and management during approaches in icing conditions."

The price we pay for "Flying Cheap."  Set aside some time to watch this very thorough report by Miles O'Brien.  Mr O'Brien is a pilot who gives this story a high level of credibility which is unusual for most aviation related reports.

Check out this wild goose chase.

They are investigating pilots who commute to work.  How about investigating why regional pilots are living with their parents, thousands of miles from their base, because they can't afford to live near that base .  What a waste of time this is.  Fix the problem, not the symptom.
