KSJU?
« on: September 23, 2008, 02:06:25 AM »
Tried searching but couldn;t find any info about the San Juan PR feed, which has been down for a while.  The weather there is impressively gruesome at the moment as a new hurricane is trying to form centered pretty well on my house in the SW part of the island, so I tried again to see how LMM Airport was doing. No joy. Anybody know when or if the feed will be back up? Thanks. -- Phil

You're meaning TJSJ, right? Just wanting to make sure, as KSJU doesn't exist, AFAIK..

Actually the entry in the feed list shows both KSJU and TJSJ as call signs. In any case, yes I mean San Juan, PR. The island received as much as 26 inches of rain during the last 24 hrs, with more on its way, and it might have made interesting listening.

Here's the entry:

KSJU/TJSJ - San Juan, PR

Status: DOWN

I gather that TJ is the ICAO designator for PR whereas KSJU comes via IATA. But I don't understand the circumstances under which each is used, or when one would use KSJU vs just SJU.

In any case the feed has been down for some time and since I'd like to have it available, and live half the year in PR and might have a little money available, I'm curious why it went down. No way I could set up a feed myself as I live as far from the San Juan airport as it's possible to be and am totally off grid - very power limited,

I see now.. TJSJ is the ICAO code, while just SJU (no K) is the IATA code. I am not sure on why it is down, but perhaps Dave or the rest of the team could send a note to the provider of the feed to see what may be the problem.

We'll try to find out - the TJSJ feeds have not been reliable, for the most part.
