KJFK Emergency

Listening to JFK Tower, Delta 140 Heavy had the emergency equipment standing by, they requested that there breaks be checked, anyone have more info?

I believe he had flaps problems, couldn't extend them, so had to come in at a faster the normal approach and landing. Their worry is that the brakes will overheat and lose all braking power before the end of the runway.
