Nice.....I know there is absolutely no excuse for this, but, can't help but wonder though, low pay + garbage hours = under qualified pilots?

I dunno, but I have been going over to the message board at airlinepilotcentral.com and reading loads of info and complaints moreso than usual lately. Even looking back at past accidents like Comair 5171 as well as Colgan (and training at Gulfstream). Of course, we all know what the crappy pay can be, but I wonder if the publics connects it with their unwillingness to cough up a few extra dollars for airline tickets. Probably not.
This is why I am choosing to pay out of my pocket for training instead of running up thousands in loans. I half-jokingly tell people it's so that I won't have to eat ramen noodles everyday when I get my first $20K/year flying job (I know, it's not really joke, unfortunately).
But showing up drunk, there is certainly no excuse for that I don't care what someone's problem is.
