How do you know which tower?
« on: July 14, 2007, 02:23:56 PM »
I'm a newby here, sorry to ask a dumb question. A relative flies in and out of JFK a lot, I can;t seem to ever pick the right tower to listen to in order to hear her flight.  So, for arrivals would it be the JFK tower link and for departures the Ground/Clearance link? Any help would be appreciated as their is another departure tonight. Thanks, and this is a neat site........I love it.

Well you can hear Arrivals and Departures on the Local Control feed (Tower) and Ground/Clearance feed. Start out with the Clearance/Ground feed maybe about 45 minutes before departure and you might hear their clearance. Then continue listening for any ground action. Then tune up to Tower when you think they are nearing the departure runway or you hear ground say "Such and Such, monitor Tower 19.1"

Thanks so much! They were coming from Rome but somehow I missed them.  Now they go from JFK to Atlanta but I cant find any atlanta feeds. But I will definitely try what you suggested. Thanks again.

You might also want to track the flights in question.

At - www.flightview.com they track flights  from Rome to a your U.S.A. destination while flightaware - http://flightaware.com - only track flights in Canadian or U.S.A. airspace.
