how can i start my career as an ATC in canada
« on: February 11, 2007, 10:52:13 AM »
can somebody help me?
i've got some questions to become an ATC in canada
1.should i have to study in a certain college for the aviation management program first before i registered for the test by NVA?
2.should i have to get my radiotelephone operator license first?or that is not necessary at all?or i can get it when i start my training held by NVA?
3what else i need to do before i registered for the test?

please give me some idea,i want to apply for that next week, but,if i failed,i have to keep myself waitting for another one year.
if you can e-mail me,i really appreciate it, as a reward, i can invite your for a dinner when your time available.or even i can pay you something for the consultation.

All you need to do is apply at www.navcanada.ca.  You'll have to go to a testing session (much more detail about this on the website), if you pass that they'll schedule a personal interview, and if that looks good as well you are referred for training (subject to being able to get a security clearance and Class 2 medical).

No college education is required (though it doesn't hurt), but you must have completed high school and be at least 18 years old.

You will write the radio operator's license test during your training.  There is no need to have it beforehand.

Your best bet is to apply right away, get a testing date, and then study the sample test questions on the NavCanada website.  If you want more info on the whole process, the forums at www.squawkident.com are very helpful as well.
