Hello, Im new here

Hello,

I just registered and wanted to say hello.  I just got into listening to a scanner.  I primarily got the scanner to listen to aircraft communications.  About a day later of buying a radio scanner I decided to get an outdoor antenna for it.  I spent the day rigging up a bracket and a wood pole to nail up on my roof.  So far I am getting a lot of chatter from my scanner.   I get the most when I am tuned onto frequency 128.575 which is the New York ARTCC.  It's pretty fun.

My scanner is a Radioshack VHF/UHF/Aircraft Pro-2018, 200 channel desktop scanner.  The antenna I got is for high VHF/UHF.  Im still learning about all of this.

And here is my antenna I rigged up.  I couldn't pass up adding the "Danger" sticker.  In fact, I ordered several other danger/electrical stickers and signs just to make it look more official!

Nice equipment you got there. It looks as though you've got the scanner set up in the bathroom, but that can't be right, can it?

Hello Jane,

Yep, it is set up in the bathroom.  That is because I did not have enough cord to reach anyplace else in the house.  I will have to wait and buy some 50 foot caple so that I can relocate my scanner.  Until then the downstairs bathroom is where it's going to be.
