I was flying instrument approaches yesterday with the cooperation of NY Approach at Islip and Brookhaven.  At aapprox. 7:45pm (I think! it could be anywhere between 7-8:15pm) I heard ATC give the following advisory "Attention all aircraft, be advised there's fuel dumping in progress (10?) miles south of (HTO?) Vortac, 9000 feet Boeing 767"

I was wondering what the situation was!  Anyone hear this?  I'm not sure which frequency the 767 was communicating on (probably a NY DEP frequency), we were on 118.00

Thanks!

The freq there is 125.97 and HTO is Hampton.  I'd imagine there was an IFE into KFOK or KISP.  I'm going to venture a guess it was to FOK since it is right new HTO.

B767 emergency into FOK?  I doubt it.  It was probably a departure out of JFK with an emergency, needed to dump fuel to land.  This happened a couple weeks ago with a IAD departure.

I suppose if I read the original post completely I would have noticed that.

Sorry man, I thought the ? meant you weren't sure what or where it was.

  • Nothing Like A 747!
Does anyone know what this 767's callsign was? I agree with rpd, probably needed to head back to KJFK or KEWR. Do we know if this was a domestic service, or was it heading international?

Very interesting thou. Right place, right time iiifly!
