TFR up in the area, and departures seem to be halted. Arrivals still proceeding inbound on 22L. Current NYPD helicopters on scene (from what I can hear on JFK Tower) are N319PD (A119 Koala) and N23FH (Bell 412). Aircraft down may be N412PD (Bell 412), but unsure.

OK helo crashed into Jamaica Bay adjacent the NYPD Aviation pad. Flotation devices on the helicopter activated and the helo is floating on the water, according to my source. No injuries. No clue how long the TFR will stay up.

Other sources are now indicating it was N414PD (Bell 412) that went down with a mechanical issue.
