Best Handheld Scanner Antenna?
« on: December 03, 2007, 08:47:20 PM »
Possibly been covered, but not sure.

Anyone have a good recommendation for an handheld scanner airband antenna?  BNC connector, and I really only care about VHF airband.

I think the antenna I have from RS (telescoping thing, and not specially tuned for air) is ok, but, really not that much different in quality than the rubber duckie that the thing came with.  Cool points for extending it out the 2-3 feet or so it goes out to ;)

I appreciate it guys, thanks!

I have quite a few handheld antenna and I actually found the RS Telescopic antenna quite good.   I found the best performance is to pull the whole thing out and push the segment just above the coil back in.

Personally I think the RS antenna is the most bang for the buck already.  I have a airband tuned handheld antenna (W-901 from Waters and Statons) and the performance is so-so, but cost more than then RS one..
