I'm going on a tour to my local airport including control tower, do they allow video cameras on the tower for recording ?  if you could give me some infos, that will be great.

I've never gone myself, but recently a friend of mine got to visit the tower at KAPC - Napa, CA. He was not allowed to take pictures or any video unfortunately.

It depends.

My tour of Norcal TRACON explicitly forbid any cameras or recording equipment. Shortly after that, we were given a tour of SMF Tower, in which we were allowed cameras, but no video.

We were allowed Scanners though, funnily enough.

I toured the TRACON/Tower at KDTW a couple of years back. We were not allowed to take any pics/vid in the TRACON, but were allowed to take pics and vid from the tower.

Any FAA regulations regarding the vid cams and cameras in tower ?

I'm not sure about video cameras, but regular cameras are usually okay as long as you do not photograph controllers (without their permission).

Agreed. I am not positive about the video cameras, but still cameras are usually ok. My guess is it would be up the the individual facility.

In the TRACON, there are specific orders not to take photos so I've never taken any photos, no, no, I haven't, I swear... :-o    :-D
