Aviation Audio Clips / 2 hospitalized after small plane crashes on soccer field

Two people on-board a small plane were hospitalized after it crashed Monday afternoon on a soccer field.

The crash was reported at 401 W. Westmont Dr. in Wilmington. Video from NewsChopper4 showed debris scattered on the field around the plane.

The pilot, who was still in the plane when LAFD arrived, was rescued from the wreckage. Both of the people on board were transported to a hospital “in at least critical condition,” LAFD said.

No other injuries or a fire were reported. Witnesses, including a man working at the field, rushed to help the victims.

"I thought it was just a toy plane, because they do fly model airplanes here but a very large one, but then it crashed and I did see it was a passenger plane," said J.R. Romero. "I saw a door hanging out, and I did see the individuals male and female kind of hunched forward, so I ran to the plane. I was able to open it up. The woman, she was responsive, the male wasn’t breathing at all." Romero said more people arrived within minutes to help get the woman out of the wreckage. He added that the woman had cuts on her face and legs but was able to stand once they freed her from the plane. The male passenger, however, looked critically injured.

Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident. Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact LAFD at 213-978-3800.

However, I'll make things odder, the pattern repeats itself.
I pulled the stats from Jan to current, and you'll see it.

So the  mystery now falls in Dave's lap (kinda like everything else :) )

John.

and I just found it, it's most on line that month, that's why it repeats.

Tough one to put together as, all freq's are on one berry at Ottawa CYOW.
So we never hear the ending, like reading a book and the last two pages are missing,
but pulled most of it together for the set up.  Both aboard ok !

Ottawa paramedics say no one was hurt after a small plane made an emergency landing at the Ottawa Airport on Saturday.

According to paramedics, the plane's front landing gear wasn't locking in place as the pilot went to land.
There were two people on the plane. They circled around for two hours before attempting to land, skidding to a stop.

The plane's props were damaged in the landing, but the two people aboard walked away unharmed.

Airport spokesperson Krista Kealey told CTV News Ottawa a Cessna pilot reporting landing gear issues to the control tower. The airport fire service team and the Ottawa Fire Service were on hand, per standard procedure.

The runway was shut down for six hours.

Kealey said there was no impact to airport operations as a result of the emergency landing.

Hi Dave,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Isn't there any other nearby receiver for these 2 frequencies ? It would be a pity to lose them after so many years of service on LiveATC!

When they are combined with the East sector at night you can hear both ATC and pilots on the other frequencies under EHBK (Olno and Lux) and it works so far. Are these frequencies set on the same receivers of Koksy?

Thank you for your support!

Those transmitters may have moved. We have not been able to hear them for some time from our receiver site so we will remove those channels.

Thanks for that, very helpful. Unfortunately my receive location is quite low but in some cases that is helpful because the transmission tower appears to be on a mountain from my view. I'll try some other gear and see how it goes but it does sound like a helpless case unless I put in a 100ft tower which might be an option later in life lol.
