My feed (CYYC) is down as I perform some maintenance on the scanner. I don't expect the feed to be back up on a regular basis until the end of the month.

After that we should be up and running solid (no hum).

Ian.

Thanks for the update! I was so pleased to see a YYC feed! I grew up in Calgary and look forward to when it's back up!

Any update on the status of your YYC feed?

I'm very anxious for it to be back up and running.

Thanks.

What is the story here? it is now dec. and no feed. I check the site everyday and nothing. It will be nice to hear what is going on in the sky in YYC.

There are many factors involved in such a question, so I can't speak on behalf of the YYC feeder.

If you would like to volunteer a YYC feed until the current one can get back going again, that would answer your question    We are always looking for more volunteers!  :D

Thanks,
Jason

what do you have to do to get a feed up and running? How can I volunteer with who ever is trying to get this feed up and running ? I know that it is not my computer that is the problem.

Been three months now, any word on how things are going, or how close you are to getting it up and running?

See above post.....  If the feeder has any news, I'm sure he'll post it as it becomes available.

Sorry people - been too busy with life to deal with this.

Here's an update: The sound quality on the scanner is excellent as I have a great line of sight between my home and the field. The problem is that when I plug the scanner into the computer - I end up with some sort of insane sound problems. Could be due to a grounding issue or plainly due to the fact that I am feeding out of the headphone jack. The scanner is super old.

I don't anticipate being able to tackle this problem for a while still. If someone else in the Calgary area has a scanner and wants to put up the feed - go for it. The LiveATC guys are super helpful.

Update:

Now that my basement development is completed I was able to retrieve my scanner and try to hook her up again. Unfortunately the built in antenna was busted while in storage (thanks to the wife).

The feed to liveatc works fine and I've solved the "hum" problem but now my reception is absolutely horrible with the broken antenna.

I've no idea where to replace the antenna or how to build a new one. I have an old computer dedicated for this and the bandwidth to run it as well as the perfect line of site for both aircraft and the airport (My house is at 4042 MSL and the airport is at 3540 MSL) and would love to be to listen this feed while working at the office.

If anyone in the area either has a scanner they would like to donate for the feed, knows where I could get a replacement antenna, or wants to help me build an antenna, please contact me as I'd love some assistance in getting this feed up and running again (and for good).

Back up and running for the time being - sounds seems to be "OK" - certainly good enough for those of us interested to enjoy.

For now the freqs are:

118.40 Calgary Tower
125.90 Calgary Arrivals
119.80 Calgary Departures
133.30 Edmonton Center (Banff Sector H/L Altitude)

The Tower freq is a bit weak at times, especially the aircraft  (500 feet below me) but the aircraft in the air especially west of the airport sound great.

If you have any comments please feel free to post.

Thanks for getting your feed back up. I'm in Alberta so it's nice to hear a feed from close to home. Hope you get your antenna issues sorted out without to much trouble.

Reception went to hell on the scanner. I've tried a number of things and the quality is not good enough to listen to right now. The only acceptable quality are aircraft with the Banff Center sector or those checking in with Arrivals from the west.

I'm really at a loss right now. Unless someone is able to help me get the scanner working properly then I suppose the feed will be down until I purchase or acquire a new scanner. I have good geographic position, a dedicated computer, and the bandwidth. All I need is a scanner that works ;)

You're sure it's the scanner and not the antenna? Anyone you know have a loaner to test with? You could even go to the radio shack and grab one and return it after testing. Just some thoughts.
