If we want to hear the audio, somebody will have to make a FOIA request to the FAA for the files. And soon, because I believe the audio is not archived forever at the ATC facilities - for some reason, 30 days sticks in my mind, but I may be confusing that with the LiveATC archives. Somebody in the know should correct me...
The news reports have been saying that after landing, Mr Ford queried the tower about "that aircraft that was under me" and they told him he "had landed on a taxiway". How does the media have this information if the audio is not publically available? I have not heard any actual audio in the published reports, but they seem to be quoting things that were said on frequency, so how is that possible?
