UAL2645 Declares Emergency Diverts to KCHS
« on: January 26, 2024, 12:00:20 AM »
On January 25, UAL2645, a B757 enroute from Newark (KEWR) to Ft. Lauderdale (KFLL), had just climbed from FL340 to FL380 when they began what looked like a rapid descent down to 10000 feet.  They declared an emergency and diverted to Charleston SC (KCHS) where they landed safely on Charleston's runway 15.  The attached audio file picks up the flight at the point they contact Charleston Approach at 10000 feet.  Unfortunately, audio before that point was not available.  The exact nature of the emergency is not known at the moment although it appears the crew was wearing their oxygen masks when they first contacted approach suggesting the emergency may have been pressurization related.  Sorry in advance, the audio in the attached file is not the best quality...
