(not the best of audio, and only one radio there, so there was nothing on the freq after he deployed his CAPS)

A small plane crashed near Bellevue’s Newport neighborhood Tuesday evening after a reported engine failure, according to police. There were no reported injuries.

Bellevue police and fire departments responded to multiple 911 calls about a plane in distress that deployed its parachute around 5:04 p.m. in the 6500 block of 127 Place Southeast, police spokesperson Seth Tyler said.   Cirrus SR22T GTS G5 experienced an engine failure and the pilot decided to activate the CAPS. After the deployment the aircraft came down in the Newport neighbourhood of Bellevue, Washington.

The two individuals who were onboard the Cirrus SR-22 told officers they were on a training flight out of Renton when the engine failed. They deployed a whole-plane parachute that allowed them to bring the plane down in a controlled manner, Tyler said.
