SPANISH FORK, Utah (KUTV) — A small aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Spanish Fork Airport after the plane caught fire mid-air.

Airport officials reported the incident shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Spencer Wilson, a student at one of the flight schools, shared details, mentioning that he received a call about a plane landing on fire from his flight instructor.
According to Wilson, the pilot and one other occupant successfully exited the aircraft after the nose wheel collapsed upon landing.

Airport officials confirmed that the fire started in the air, and this was not considered a plane crash.
The occupants inside the plane told crew members they heard a pop inside the aircraft, and smoke immediately began filling inside.

The aircraft involved was a small plane used for training, although no training session was in progress at the time of the incident.
