Rex SAAB 380 loses a propeller (SYD/YSSY)
« on: March 17, 2017, 12:33:34 AM »

Reference to emergency starts at 11:25, incident aircraft (Rex 768) reports details of problem at about 11:50 into this clip.   There's probably more in the next archive.   Maybe someone can edit these down?

"768, we've just had uncommanded engine operations and then our propeller has just sheared off..."   Safely landed about 15-20 minutes later.

While the Rex is on approach, Qlink aircraft also declares a PAN due to a medical emergency, wants 16R due to proximity to the terminal, but is forced to redirect to 16L.

A Cathay 777 is also redirected to 16L, which normally only handles narrow body traffic.

That would be a Saab 340.   ;)

Thanks for your file jportzer.
I have edited it and added relevant audio from the 0100Z Tower archive.
