Old control tower recording
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:13:20 AM »
Hi all,

I have an old sound effects CD titled "Trains, planes and automobiles", track 44 is a 66 second recording inside a US control tower which I gather was made in the 60's or 70's as one transmission involves an Eastern Electra aircraft.  Anybody care to guess the exact date and from which airport the recording was made?

Regards

I would agree with Dave B on KJFK...

...Eastern operated the L-188 up until November 1, 1977, however, most of them were retired for pax service by 1975. Late in life, most of EAL's L-188's were used on the New York-Washington D.C. Shuttle route. The catch is the Shuttle operated out of KLGA...

...so given that, I am tempted to place it slightly earlier, maybe 1965...

Never the less, a real cool recording! Thanks for digging that up!  8-)
