JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) - Everyone is safe and unharmed after a small plane landed in a field this morning in the area of Jeffersonville, Indiana.

The Indiana State Police confirmed the crash happened at about 8:30 a.m. off Port Road, which is not far from the Ohio River.

The plane is a two-passenger private aircraft and part of the Fleet of Flight Club 502, a Louisville-based nonprofit organization that teaches the youth how to fly.

An official with Fleet of Flight Club 502 confirmed there was a teenaged student on board. They also said the aircraft encountered a problem, so the flight instructor made the decision to land as a precaution instead of crossing the river back into St. Matthews, Kentucky.

The Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
