JBU420 from KATL was on final for landing on runway 31R at KJFK on December 11 when the flight crew decided to "go around" because the crew received a "Flight Control" message. They ran some checklists and opted to declare an emergency due to a problem with the flaps. They asked to land on the longer runway 31L instead and also asked for the fire equipment to meet them at the runway as a precaution. The aircraft landed safely a short time later.
