(Quick question - what's an "option?" Google isn't turning out to know much.)
The option the clears an aircraft to do a, touch and go, low approach, stop and go, or full stop. The reason it's funny is because airliners when on normal flights (not training) will always full stop. They have schedules to keep, want to save as much fuel as possible, and generally passengers want to be off the plane as soon as possible.
CLEARED FOR THE OPTION- ATC authorization
for an aircraft to make a touch‐and‐go, low
approach, missed approach, stop and go, or full stop
landing at the discretion of the pilot. It is normally
used in training so that an instructor can evaluate a
student's performance under changing situations.
(See OPTION APPROACH.)
