EDV5316 Smoke in the Cockpit

Endeavor 5316 (EDV5316) departed from KLGA on September 10 enroute to Savannah, GA and was at 12,000 feet when they reported smoke in the cockpit.  The pilots said there were sparks on the windshield.  The crew declared an emergency and ultimately decided to land at KJFK instead of returning to KLGA most likely because of the longer runways at KJFK.  The aircraft landed safely about 30 minutes later on runway 22L.
