DLH423 Returns to KBOS After Bird Strike on Departure

On January 19, DLH423, an Airbus A330 enroute to Frankfurt Germany, had just departed Boston's runway 4R when one of the engines struck a bird resulting in vibrations coming from the engine.  The crew stopped the climb at 8000 feet while they checked things out.  They decided to dump fuel and return to KBOS.  They landed safely on runway 33L a short time later.
