A Delta Airlines Boeing 737-900, registration N900DU performing flight DL-1153 from Ft. Myers,FL to Atlanta,GA (USA) with 185 people on board, was climbing out of Ft. Myers' runway 06 when the crew reported a bird strike causing vibrations of the airframe, levelled off at 3000 feet and decided to return to Ft. Myers needing to deviate around weather. The crew declared emergency. A runway inspection found the remains of birds on the runway. The aircraft positioned for an ILS approach to runway 06, landed safely and vacated the runway.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK BIRDS DURING TAKEOFF ROLL CAUSING VIBRATIONS, FT MYERS, FL"

The aircraft is still on the ground in Ft. Myers about 22 hours after landing back.
