On October 24, DAL984 from KSFO was on short final into KATL when the crew decided to go around because of a bird strike. They declared an emergency, ran some checklists and landed safely a short time later on runway 8L. The fire equipment was standing by but thankfully was not needed. The aircraft taxied on its own to the gate.
