DAL982 at KATL Loses Nose Wheel Lining up for Takoff
« on: January 23, 2024, 04:10:24 PM »
On January 20, DAL982, a B757 enroute to Bogota CO, was lining up for takeoff on runway 27R when one of the nose wheels fell off the nose gear and rolled down an embankment next to the runway.  The aircraft behind the Delta 757 noticed the wheel rolling away and advised the tower what had just happened.  The aircraft could not taxi on its own and it could not immediately be towed off so all of the 27R departures moved over to 27L.  The aircraft was finally towed off a little over two hours later.
