Well, the English wasn't all that bad. Second time through I could understand him just fine. Problem is that ATC coms don't always get a second tine through. I continue to be concerned that awful pronunciation is one day going to kill several hundred people in one swell foop. Listen, for just one example, to Narita ATC. Lunway 31, rhine up and wait. And that's just the beginning. That they understand each other at all is testament to the human brain's ability to extract meaning from mush. It is really not that hard to learn the pronunciation of a new language. Just takes a reasonably good instructor and a bit of work.
