American 1435 Aborts takeoff at KPHL
« on: May 16, 2010, 05:06:30 PM »
I caught this a while back, but had an issue with posting it.

This is American  Airlines 1435 aborting takeoff at KPHL on 04/29/10. The reason for the abort was that the right engine didn't spool up correctly.

Below is a pic of the aircraft involved, MD-82 N579AA (cn 53156/1884).

Thanks for resolving the issue Dave!  8-)

Enjoy!

Really good edit! From tower, ramp and ground seemlessly spliced together! Usually those ground frequencies sound like crap because the scanners are far away.

The way they kept asking questions, it sounded like the pilot did something wrong (which he didnt) - why did they need the N number and the reason for the abort?

I believe there is a report that needs to be filled out for such instances.

not sure why they needed the N number...but yes you have to log the abort and reason for it, as well as call a phone number that tracks this stuff (not sure on the security of who we call...so im not going to say who it is right now)

but they need the callsign (never asked for the N number) of any aircarrier/airtaxi that aborts their takeoff

Not sure why they need the N number but I know we've been asking for it for aborted takeoffs lately.  Could be a new requirement now.
