AAL1849 Engine Failure at FL320

On January 25, AAL1849, an Airbus A321 enroute from Charlotte NC (KCLT) to Portland OR (KPDX), was cruising at FL320 over Iowa when their No.1 (left side) engine failed.  The crew declared a mayday and immediately started a descent to FL240.  The flight diverted to Minneapolis MN (KMSP) and landed safely there a short time later on runway 12R.
