Yeah, those are the archives I was listening to. Not posting a clip because there's not much there. I will write a summary, however:
GTI3591 checked in on apporach at approx altitude 17,800 around 1825Z. Pilot on the radio sounded normal - the traditional "pilot cool". Was routed for a specific runway transition -- I didn't catch which one, it was somewhat chopped. Some vectoring for weather, and GTI3591 doubled with KIAH approach for part of it, but sounded like he deviated east for weather. That was the last I heard of him, it was a busy feed in that half hour. Next thing I knew was approach asking inbound aircraft if they were hearing ELTs. Around 1848 I'm hearing reports of ELTs and approach calling for GTI3591 with a how-do-you-hear.
From the ear and eye of this untrained observer? Whatever happened, happened pretty fast. I'm listening to the rest of the half hour block to see if there's anything useful, but I have my doubts.
Agree on the precip -- when I loaded the 1800Z clip to try and catch the checkin, I just had this bad feeling.
Hopefully someone else will have something from a private feed.
