Feed Setup Pictures / Ready for a code? i think
« Last post by CYQG on November 18, 2021, 08:43:22 PM »
Hey all, my local feed went down 30 days ago so I've opted to build one and get it running as i know people local liked to listen to it.. I ended up with a Raspberry Pi4 4GB and used the Nooelec NESDR Smart v4 SDR and a tuned antenna, I've set the Pi up as far as I can go using the provided Image from the LiveATC email I got and then at the bottom it says "LiveATC will then send you a valid config file and further instructions to complete the installation."
is this a generic config file that i can just copy from anyone.. i was rushing to get this built as I'm doing my First Solo flight tomorrow and wanted to have the audio from it.. any help would be great!

yes I've sent 2 emails advising the install was complete and nothing back as of yet..

'FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A pilot and passenger were killed after a single-engine air tanker crashed near the quickly spreading Kruger Rock Fire on Tuesday night, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.  The plane's flight was supposed to be historic: It was the first time a fixed-wing aircraft had ever fought a fire at night using night vision in Colorado, according to the Coloradoan's television news partners at 9News.

The fire, which is burning an estimated 133 acres with 15% containment as of . Tuesday evening, is near Rocky Mountain National Park, 90 minutes away from Denver.

The plane, called the Air Tractor Fire Boss, is a one-seat firefighting airplane that can drop up to 800 gallons of water or retardant on a fire per flight and up to 14,000 gallons per hour, according to the manufacturer's website.

9News previously reported that the flight was planned to deploy a pilot wearing night-vision goggles in a plane equipped with specialized infrared lighting and other lighting designed for flying at night. The technology was demonstrated during a May demonstration in Loveland, Colorado.  The sheriff's office said the pilot and only occupant of the plane did not survive. Their identities were not immidieately available

According to emergency radio broadcasts from Estes Valley Fire District, the plane is believed to have gone down about 6:45 p.m. It left an airport at 6:13 p.m. and was last tracked at 6:36 p.m., according to the aircraft tracking website FlightAware.

Around 9:49 p.m., crews found the plane crash site, the sheriff's office said.

Listener Forum / Re: KPKB Feed Info
« Last post by JayH on November 15, 2021, 11:02:22 AM »
I just wanted to reply and announce that the KPKB and ZID (Indy Center) feeds are finally back up.  I moved the antenna and equipment to a new location (on my garage instead of the house).  I also moved the server to a Raspberry Pi.

Here is the equipment used:
Custom 4 element Yagi antenna tuned to KPKB tower frequency made by Arrow Antennas
Antenna mounted at approximately 20 ft AGL
LMR coax with PL-259 connections
Uniden Bearcat 780 XLT scanner (KPKB)
Uniden Bearcar 350C scanner (ZID)
Amplifier with air band filter and 50-ohm splitter
Raspberry Pi 3B+

Does anyone have any tips on how to hear LSZH Departure? I have sometimes heard Approach Controller 'doubling up' but only very rarely. Any ideas at what times or under what conditions this happens? Thanks.

I wanted to thank the host of the KDSM Des Moines ATC. It had been down for along time. This morning I thought I'd check it just for the heck of it and I was elated. Thanks again.
