Listener Forum / Re: KSAT approach - stuck on ATIS

KSAT approach has been stuck on ATIS again for the past few days.

Cessna N7022G-
IMHO, this potentially is attributed to spatial disorientation during an ILS approach to runway 28 Right at KMYF.   Metar for KMYF was 18010KT 10SM BKN017 OVC028 , and for the KSEE area he was vectored through for the intercept, 2800 broken.  Winds aloft were 41mph from 320 degrees,  all the way down from 9000' to 3000', which might have been pushing him left of course and contributed to his confusion while trying to intercept, and hand fly the correction.   He sounds confident, though speaks very fast during his initial descent from 10 thousand down to 4000.  He initially asks about a split frequency at Montgomery on 119.20, so it would suggest he had the right chart pulled up for the ILS. Though he sounded confused about the circle to land procedure he was told to expect for Runway 23.  At that point, he begins to sound more overwhelmed.  The local doorbell cams show him in an 80 degree high speed dive until impact.  My guess, is that as a result of getting a command to "climb" by ATC, he got a hit of vertigo, and maybe thought he was climbing while the plane was actually descending.
This plane did a lot of flying in the Phoenix area, so maybe not so current in actual IMC conditions.   Although the news hasn't confirmed this, my sleuthing reveals that this is a Doctor, a Cardiologist from the Yuma area, who got his commercial/multi here in San Diego, in Fallbrook, and did his private at MYF.

Aviation Accidents/Incidents / Re: Skydive plane crashes during jump run in Phoenix

They had a lot of experience jumping at night I'm sure that helped a lot I'm wondering what caused the airplane to catch fire maybe one of the pyro devices they wear for the show ignited inside the cabin although the report I read said the wing was on fire.  What is really lucky that no one was killed on the ground most homes in Gilbert are wood frame stucco over particle board so not that strong. I'm guessing they have spot lights with them when they jump to see where they are anavar going watch out for power lines. Lot of high voltage power lines in Phoenix metro area I work for the electric utility east valley is full of them 340kv 500kv lines because we use so much electricity in the summer months.  Hate to land in those lines be zapped or land in a substation lots of those around too.

what was the reason behind it?

Well. I don't think the stream is that bad! And compared to what was available the last few months for LSGG (namely zero), it is so to say infinitely better... ;-)

In my experience, an outdoor antenna brings a lot. And of course one of the well-known RTL dongles (RTL SDR Blog V3 or NESDR SMArt).

Maybe there is a possibility to receive an additional channel from your position later, which does not fit into one of the received frequency windows with the other two setups. This would then complement each other well.

Hi quelbazar

Thanks for your information and the URL to the temporary stream!  :-)

I am currently listening to your stream and can follow LSGG Arrival over it well. The signals are quite clean - but all (controllers and aircraft) rather on the weak side with a relatively large amount of white noise. Do you have the antenna inside or are you very far away from the action? You might be able to increase the signal-to-noise ratio just by increasing the gain in the configuration.

I will send you a private message here in the forum with our internal test streams. Please do not spread this. We are now approaching Dave to have these streams on LiveATC very soon.

Hi Thowe,

I fully agree : My stream is not clean enough. I've a (very) low cost USB dongle, a basic indoor antenna, and I'm 60km away (east) from airport. I tested many gain configs with no changes. Putting antenna outside is worst  :? .I ordered another usb dongle and a better antenna.
But your LSGG arrival stream is obvously better than mine. Dave will have to use your source.  :-)

Thank you for your work and for your advices !

Listener Forum / No CYTZ?
« Last post by mangadragonnet on October 10, 2021, 05:35:43 AM »
Im curious if anyone knows anything about CYTZ being seeded?  Are there any plans to seed it? "If and when" it might be up?  It is a decently busy little airport, with a regular airline, and 2 flight schools flying out of it, on toronto's island.  Im actually a student pilot that flys out of there regularly, and would love to be able to access that atc feed!  Seems everthing else in the area has a feed, but not YTZ?
