Aviation Audio Clips / UAL108 Returns to KIAD due to Fuel Leak
« Last post by RonR on Today at 01:47:41 PM »
On April 22, UAL108, a B767, was cruising at FL330 enroute to EDDM and was just east of Long Island NY when the flight crew decided to turn around and return to KIAD because of a fuel leak.  They declared an emergency and were given vectors to dump fuel over the ocean before making their way back to KIAD.  The flight landed safely on KIAD's runway 1R about 80 minutes later and taxied off the runway and came to a stop where they were met by emergency vehicles to inspect the aircraft.

Aviation Audio Clips / Flat Tire Landing at PBI causes delays
« Last post by KB4TEZ on Today at 01:44:40 PM »
The Pilatus was actually without radio comms to the tower prior to this happening. (comm via cell phone)
then landed, flat tire and disabled on the runway.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —
The Federal Aviation Administration has issued an advisory for Palm Beach International Airport because of a disabled aircraft.

Plane was disabled in the worst of places, right at the intersection of Runway 10L/32R, took some time but they finally got it moved.
No one injured, delays have ended.

Aviation Audio Clips / DAL49 Nose Gear Fault Landing KJFK
« Last post by RonR on April 25, 2024, 03:08:22 PM »
On April 21, DAL49, an A330 inbound from EHAM, was about to touch down on KJFK's runway 22L when the flight crew opted to go around due to a nose gear fault.  The crew contacted their dispatch but were unable to reset the fault.  They decided to return and land on KJFK's long runway 31L.  After running some checklists, the flight landed without incident a short time later but were unable to taxi off the runway on their own.  A tow was sent out to tow the aircraft to the gate.

Feed Outage/Status Reports / SFO and other feeds down due to internet outage.
« Last post by Squawk 7700 on April 25, 2024, 02:31:04 PM »
Xfinity Comcast is servicing the network in my neighborhood so there will be an outage today on all my SFO, OAK, SJC, ZOA, HWD, and NorCal feeds.

I'm running the KSFO Ground/Tower feed on a backup system so that will be up and running.

Update: Internet service has been restored. We are back online and all feeds are up and running.

Sounds like these static bursts might be some noise external to the feed setup.  Hopefully the feed provider will see this post and see if the noise can be reduced/eliminated.

Aviation Audio Clips / SWA4195 Engine Failure Diverts to KDAL
« Last post by RonR on April 25, 2024, 10:59:15 AM »
SWA4195 was enroute to San Antonio TX from Denver CO and was cruising near Abilene TX at FL410 when the flight crew decided to divert to Dallas' Love Field (KDAL) due to a problem with their #1 engine.  They eventually shut the engine down and landed safely on runway 13L.  The aircraft taxied off the runway and stopped to be inspected by the emergency crews that were standing by.  Afterwards, they taxied to the gate on their own power.  Attached audio picks up the flight from the point they contacted Approach.  No audio available before that.

https://nypost.com/2024/04/25/us-news/lufthansa-boeing-747-bounced-off-lax-runway-twice-video/

(here's the audio, unstable approach, and pilot pretty non-chalant :))

Dramatic video captured a Lufthansa Airlines Boeing 747 twice bouncing off the runway in California before aborting its landing and taking back to the skies.

The video from Tuesday’s aborted landing at LAX was shared by Airline Videos Live, which livestreams from the California airport — and called it “the roughest landing” it has ever filmed there.
Lufthansa Flight 456 appeared to be landing as it normally would until its wheels touched down, sending a cloud of white smoke out from under its landing gear and jerking the plane upward.
The flight commentator later noted that he could “smell” the burnt rubber from the jet’s wheels after its failed landing.

The plane proceeded to circle the airport and was able to land without issue soon after.

It was not immediately clear what caused the botched landing.
