(pretty sharp controller, kudos)

An American Airlines Airbus A321-200, registration N157UW performing flight AA-1665 from Las Vegas,NV to Charlotte,NC (USA) with 165 people on board, was climbing out of Las Vegas' runway 01R when the crew stopped the climb at 4000 feet, tower reported seeing flames from one of the engines (CFM56), the crew responding they needed to return. The aircraft landed safely back on Las Vegas' runway 01L about 8 minutes after departure. The crew reported the right hand engine was shut down and requested emergency services to check for any fire, tower reported they was no impending emergency, no fire seen.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Las Vegas about 3.5 hours after landing.

The FAA reported: "American Airlines Flight 1665 returned safely to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas around 8:20 a.m. local time on Wednesday, June 25, after the crew reported an engine issue. The Airbus A321 was headed to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The FAA will investigate."

The airline reported a mechanical issue.

Ground observers reported seeing streaks of flames and smoke coming from the right hand engine as the aircraft climbed out.

KDCA Wednesday 6/25/25 @1509Z (11:09am local), US Marines (Nighthawks) conduct flyover of Arlington National Cemetery (ANC) with 3 x V-22 Ospreys out of Quantico, callsign DRAGO51.

Some of the coordination with flyover ground controller (DRAGO2) can also be heard which is not normally available for other flyovers, I assume this is happening on one of the internal Nighthawk frequencies being picked up on the Heli feed.

Believe this to be the first ANC flyover since the timing incident with the Talons on 3/28/25.

Edited for time/content, not realtime etc.

(this has to be the calmest rejected take off ever.  Controller got real busy real fast, but you can't tell by his demeanor.)

A United Boeing 767-300, registration N684UA performing flight UA-12 from Zurich (Switzerland) to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA) with 142 people on board, was accelerating for takeoff from Zurich's runway 16 when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 145 knots over ground). The aircraft came to a safe stop on the runway past the intersection with runway 28, a number of main tyres deflated. Emergency services responded, the passengers disembarked via stairs onto the runway. The aircraft was moved off the runway almost 4 hours after the rejected takeoff.

LiveATC is aware of this problem and is working to resolve this issue.  It looks like there is a problem with one of the receivers at the feed site.  It will hopefully get taken care of sooner rather than later.

Lakeland, KLAL is a busy little place, even when Fun-n-Sun isn't there.
This Controller impressed me very much, cool and calm handling this.
Just love his radio delivery.

WINCHESTER, ID – Two people escaped with only minor injuries after a small aircraft crashed in a field north of Winchester on Sunday afternoon, June 22.

According to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. and involved a Piper Turbo Lance II, a six-seat aircraft. Deputies and emergency crews responded to the scene following reports of a possible downed plane near the city.

Personnel from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Winchester Fire Department, Winchester Quick Response Unit, Nezperce Ambulance, and Nez Perce Tribal Police all responded to the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is now being handled by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board.
