Aviation Audio Clips / UAL1003 Reportedly Hits Drone Departing KSFO
« Last post by RonR on March 26, 2024, 11:22:49 AM »
UAL1003 had just departed KSFO from runway 1R on March 23 when the flight crew reported possibly hitting a drone just after becoming airborne.  The aircraft climbed to 5000 feet and was given vectors while they tried to figure out what exactly had happened.  The crew decided to return to KSFO and declared an emergency as a precaution.  They landed safely a short time later on runway 28R.  Adding to this incident was some wildlife crossing a runway that forced the tower controller to cancel a takeoff clearance.

Aviation Audio Clips / JBU53 Medical Emergency Due To Turbulence
« Last post by RonR on March 26, 2024, 10:31:44 AM »
JBU53 had just departed KJFK on March 23 and was enroute to KPBI when they encountered severe turbulence at FL280 that resulted in the injury of a flight attendant.  The flight crew ultimately declared a medical emergency and decided to divert to KRIC.  The flight landed safely a short time later.  Unfortunately, there was no LiveATC coverage after the flight was handed off to ZDC 127.75

(I have pulled a lot of audio, but this one really hit home in a few ways.  One, how sudden things can change, from a seemingly "door popped open" to nothing heard after that.
Second, kudos to all of the aviators around the area, skillful and cooperative, and especially the controller, that man was a rock star.  I did trim out some of the non-essential tx's,
but to hear him not only control the airspace, but coordinate the situation all at the same time,  man is a real professional and a credit to ATC.)
RIP and prayers with the families.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – Two people died in an airplane crash that happened shortly after the aircraft took off from the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine Monday around noon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are responding to the wooded area near Torres Trace where the crash happened.

I too was wondering about the Air Boss frequency.  I could hear the Blue Angels, Air-Air, but never Air Boss.  Close Call was on.
