Title: Helicopter medical transports
Post by: NWIA51360 on December 07, 2013, 05:00:02 PM
I'm curious, do medical transport helicopters typically file flight plans? The particular flights I'm asking about would be usually less than one hour duration and occur in generally uncontrolled airspace.

Generally they do not file a flight plan. Most are low-altitude operations under VFR. Occasionally depending on the region where they're flying, they will ask for traffic advisories from an approach control, but very rarely will that involve the helicopter being "put into the system" on a trackable flight plan that you could look up on FlightAware.
