GPS instead of ADF question
(1/1)
Robin Rebhan:
Example Glens Falls, NY KGFL ILS RWY 1 approach. On face of approach plate "ADF REQUIRED". ADF & OM are together which is a LOM. Can a GPS legally be used instead of ADF if aircraft is not ADF equipped?
ADF would be used on the missed, can GPS be used?
One instructor says yes, another no.
Tried logging in to AOPA forums and asking, got new password & login name and still can't get on the forums.
Thanx in advance

Jason:
I would type up a big long post, but AOPA did it pretty well in their Air Traffic Services Brief -- Use of GPS in lieu of DME/ADF.
Robin Rebhan:
Thanx for the replies Much appreciated. Proving yet again, if you want answers LiveAtc is the place to go :-D
