Ambiguous instructions

(1/1)

AntonPanferin:
Hi everyone! Just a question to pilots from a Tower ATC for my survey. Is it really confusing when given variations on 'line up and wait' or is it better just to have it clear and concise like 'line up RW XX' and that's it?

You should ALWAYS give clear and concise instructions as ATC. That is why standard phraseology is important. But let's get into this.

What do you mean by "variations"? In the US, the 7110.65, section 3-9-4 tells us precisely what has to be said. The AIP in the UK should have similar, and EuroControl should have similar as well.

Perhaps it would be better to mention which part of the world you are concentrating on for this, then everyone can help.
