Hello! I 've got a question concerning ADS-Contract. Is the phrase "ADS-C contact" possible to let the pilots know that their radar screen targets are being ADS-C observed? I mean is this phrase clear as there's no any standard phraseology concerning this matter.

Im not sure about all over the world, but typically ADS-C is not used for radar operations, just non-radar.  Because it is a contract, the hits come in at a much less rate then a radar sweep.  Also, it relies entirely on satellite use, which can be unreliable at times.  ADS-B on the other hand will be used to replace radar, as it gives a constant update to the track of the flight, through the use of ground and satellite services.  Maybe someone is using contract as radar, but seems like your relying on a lot to get updates that quick, I would say it takes typically 30-45 seconds if not more to get a update when requested on an ADS-C aircraft.

I am just looking for the best phrase that will let the pilots be aware that the ads-c connection has been established and they are being observed on the scope. Within radar coverage the phrase "radar contact" is used. Can "ADS-C contact" be used to relay that meaning?

I don't have any direct experience with ADS but I do work a lot with aircraft which transition to and from the Oakland Oceanic airspace where it is used extensively. The aircraft have to login with Oakland center. They are aware when it's successful. So the plane knows when the connection has been established without further communications. Sometimes there's problems with the login and they keep trying until it works or Oakland has us tell them to stop trying until they can fix the problem. Also either side can initiate a logout. If Oakland initiates the logout the plane is aware of it so then they know when the connection has been broken.

So from what I've seen there isn't any need to use a phrase like ads contact.
