Im sure some of you have seen the feed is up, I ran this feed back in the fall 04'. It started in September, then I couldnt keep it up. So I decided to take it down, it's now up and should be a full- time feed now. There are a few changes now, I since have been able to pick up the PTW 92 and DQO 18. I will be working on my coax to improve the reception on the MXE 25 and DQO 18 sectors. If anyone wants to know the flows for these sectors just let me know and I'll post what each sector does.
I know one person will be thankful for this feed, Mike aka NYARTCCFAN. Isn't that right Mike :D
Enjoy,
Ed

Glad to see it up Ed. I'm glad I was able to help you get it all setup. It's hard since many people have different sound cards and comp. setups in general...well after many hours of hard work we both got it up! :D
Let me know if ya need anything,

I was wondering if you have a map of the ZNY sectors or know of a link to one. I've been looking all over the web for one with no luck. Thanks.
Chris

Ok, I'll get one up then. FYI, I locked MXE 25/ DQO 18. I found that interference to be to much, sometime today I'm gonna re crimp my coax and those sectors should be better.
-
I locked MXE 25/ DQO 18.
This is a great feed, excellent reception on 134.60/132.10/124.625. Personally I think it would be better if you left MXE25/DQO18 locked out and only monitored 132.60/132.10/124.625. The traffic volume is quite high and by adding any more it just makes it impossible to follow the flow. They way you have it now, with just those 3 works out nice. Just my 2 cents.
Thanks for the feed !

Well 135.45 is important because 132.1/ 134.6 deal with this sector alot for the BWI/IAD/DCA Arrivals, you'll hear 34.6 handing off to them alot. 132.52 isn't so important to ZNY's flow. Yet it's all the Dylin2 arrivals into EWR and sometimes Korry3 arrivals into LGA. However I will keep them locked as requested until I can get them to the same strenght as the other 3 sectors.
124.62 is good listening after 9pm EST. They group 134.8, 124.9, 133.5 along with 124.62. So he'll run any thing that's low altitude anywhere near the west along ZOB's border. And you'll hear Milton3 Arrivals into LGA, Willamsport1 Arrivals into EWR, Spuds/ Slatt 1 Arrivals into PHL (Always controls them). Among those flows a slew of late night arrivals/departures at Willamsport, State College, University Park, Allentown, Wilkes Barre etc...
134.6 is anything heading for J75, J230 for the south or west. Anything for the west or south out of the Kennedy 9 Dep, Brezy Point climb, heading to RBV deals with the ARD55 sector. Liberty Departure hands traffic off as they are climbing to 17000. Late at night this can be grouped with the JFK56 running CAMRN4 arrivals into kennedy, don't be surprised if you hear crossing restrictions, but not the pilot as they are on 125.325.
132.1 is all EWR departures for J6, J64, headin west to Eliot, Parke. Also handles southwest bound flows of IAD, DCA, BWI traffic. Anytime you hear European Heavies, they are on this freq descending on the Delro 1 into IAD. (i.e. AFR024, VIR021, BAW293/ 217, DLH414). After hours this is normally grouped with 134.6, but most of the time actually never used after hours.
EDIT: One thing I shall add, is that 132.1 is a birde freq in my scanner. Of course it has to be that one out of like 400 freqs that I can get. So you will hear a light static on that frequency. That will have to be until I get a base scanner.
-
HAHA, the german lady is working ARD55. You may hear her once in a while, she is training in Area B. Sometimes you will hear a older man on the frequency, like if someone has a question about routing. You should hear her, she can get annoying.... "Rogah". "Comair two ah twenty one, climb and ah maintain ah Flight Level two two zero"

It's a work in progress and hardly complete. I don't know if anyone else is interested in such detail, but it would be handy to have a reference like the above for as many sectors as possible.

All right Jetscan1 you are holding out on us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You ar an air traffic controller righ ? Great work on the routings and frequencies(transmitter locations). You are a blessing to this board man. One question and I will leave you alone is that before ABE arrivals get handed off to NY Center(134.8) do you know what CLE Center frequency they are on ? I have been thinking is it 119.725 or 126.725.
-

Not a controller, just a pilot with a keen interest in ATC and flight planning. If I wasn't flying (airline) I would probably doing something in ATC.

From the high sectors, ABE arrivals from ORD/DTW for example go from Cleveland on 119.725 to New York 132.875. I'm not that familiar with 132.875 but I presume after that they go to New York on 134.800 ? I've noticed ABE arrivals from CLE and ATL on New York 124.625 before handoff to approach on 124.450. I'm not familiar with the low Cleveland frequencies in that area (ie: PIT-ABE), so can't help you there.

Gracias !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, your pretty much right. Any of the ABE arrivals from ORD/DTW go to 132.875, sometimes 128.575. Then 124.625 which is most of the time combined with 134.8/ 124.9

Thanks for the info. What about PHL departures on the low altitude route via PTW.PTW320.V499 (to ELM,ITH,BGM,etc.) on 124.625, sometimes they get the handoff to 133.500 and other times 128.500. Are 133.500/128.500 merged sectors or is there a vertical split in there as well somewhere ?

i was wondering also why 128.5 was active(usual a standby freq for NYCARTCC).Ed correct me if I am wrong here but I do believe from 124.625 they get handed off to 134.45/133.35. Traffic going into CLE CENTER out west they get handed off to 132.875 after 124.625 then to 119.725/133.075 depending on cruise altitude. I have at times heard EWR and LGA traff normally on 133.5 be also on 124.625(during slow times) and on 128.5
-
128.5 and 133.175 are both new sectors. I will have to get an update for my sector map. So all I know is that 133.175 is next to LRP26 (133.675). I have no clue where 128.5 is. Those PHL PTW departures, normally go 124.625, 133.35. I have never heard a handoff to 134.45, I assume that CFB50/ 133.35 and LHY51/ 134.45 are combined 95-98% of the time. Or just that they don't like to flow traffic northbound from 124.62 to 134.45.

NY ARTCC publishes a map/guide for pilots every two years. You can get the latest one at http://web.nbaa.org/public/ops/airspace/ZNY_LTA0401.pdf
With regards to frequencies, they'll sometimes use backup frequencies. On the map you'll notice #66 is 134.55, yet most people will know it as 128.3.
I have never noticed them publish backup frequencies, even in the now outdated SOP I have.
If you've never seen what the SOP looks like, you can see several pages of it at the NTSB web site at http://www.ntsb.gov/events/EA990/docket/Ex_3A_attE.pdf
For ZOB, I don't know any official references, but do know that the person who got the ZOB info at this site (pages 1 to 3) http://www.zobartcc.org/zob/sop/zob_chapter3.pdf got them from the FAA.
The above is LOW, here is HIGH (pages 1 to 2) http://www.zobartcc.org/zob/sop/zob_chapter4.pdf
Hope the above helps.
-
im clicking on the links and there is nothing happening
-
Yea, 0401 is the last cycle I have for ZNY. I have seen those Non-Radar position SOP's, pretty cool, but old. And as for those ZOB maps, I told Mike about those. Mike, none of us can help your computer illiterate soul j/k
-
HEY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I click on the link and 2 seconds later a window opens up and on the bottom left says done but all I Get is a blank Screen Ed   :?

Mike...you need Adobe Acrobat Reader.

got it

Excellent, thanks.
With regards to frequencies, they'll sometimes use backup frequencies.
For all it's worth I've heard them sub 133.175 for 133.475 in Sector 10 on occasion, I've also heard them use 128.500 in the same area as Sector 73 (132.875).
For ZOB, I don't know any official references, but do know that the person who got the ZOB info at this site (pages 1 to 3) http://www.zobartcc.org/zob/sop/zob_chapter3.pdf got them from the FAA.
From the above website the sector maps look okay for ZOB, but some of the frequencies listed are mixed up, some in the wrong sectors, and they're missing quite a few frequencies, like the ultra high sectors.

I just timed the feed, and it's delayed 4 seconds. I'll time it later this weekend.

Ed, just a side-note....The phone delay and the connection I have to the internet is also a factor. Someone with a slower connection such as dial up might have slightly longer delays. Depends on your connection.
-
Right on! I grew up a few miles from Lehigh Valley Intl (KABE) I'm sure my pops would love this feed. Thanks!
-
I just got home, and noticed the feed has been buffering every minute for the last 15 minutes. Has it been doing that all day? I'm very sorry for any inconvience to anyone and I will try to get this fixed tonight.
EDIT: Ok, feed keeps disconnecting and buffering. It's comin down for the night, Sorry :(

Ed - Occasionally that happens to me. When I restart and then start the feed it takes a few minutes to get up. Happens on occasion for me. Probably on your internet connection end of things.
Dave can enlighten our brains into a more detailed description if time permits.

Feed is back up, let me know if everything is ok.

I know this an old thread, but I'm new here and reading it for the first time. I work in Area D at ZNY and you guys are pretty close on most of this stuff. Let me answer a few things I saw in here.
133.5 is sector 74's freq and it's terrible. We use 128.5 a lot as the backup when they're working on 133.5. It's a backup freq for the whole area, but we use it mostly at 74.
124.625 (sector 92) is only combined up with 134.8/123.625/124.9 (sector 93) on the midnight shifts or when it's really slow. Usually it combines up at 8:30 pm or so.
Sector 74 gets combined up with 92 sometimes in the late morning/early afternoon if it's slow. At night it's the last low altitude sector to combine up around 10:30 or 11.
Sector 92 doesn't give a lot of traffic to sector 51 because it puts them head-on to the PHL jet arrivals around Wilkes-Barre. I would guess that 50 and 51 are combined less than half the time.
133.17 is a back-up freq for Area A. They used it for a long time at sector 26 when they were having trouble with 133.67.
ABE departures westbound go from 92 to 93 if they're staying below flight levels and 92 to 73 (132.875) if they're requesting FL180 or above.
If you guys could listen to 132.875 or 134.8/124.9 it would probably be more interesting than 124.625. We know you're out there, but we're not sure why.
-
Sweet nice to have someone from D, welcome aboard. Do you know the Steins? I know their son, Ethan. I have to go so I will write another reply to the info you posted later.
-
Sure, I've known the Steins for about 20 years. And I was in Oklahoma with Carl, the "Welcome Aboard" guy.
-
I gave out this user name and password to a few guys in the Area, so there's is more than one of us using it. We're waiting for the feed to be back up so we can make a few comments for you to listen to.
-
I could have sworn that 92 combined up with 74 like everynight. I always hear 92 running MIP3, and FQM1. 92 isn't the greatest sector, but I'll tell you the same thing I told the B guys. You want me to feed other sectors, get the transmitters moved to Flint Hill or Lansdale, Pa :P If I could, I would feed all the ZNY sectors with ATC, that would be a kickass feed. Thanks for the info about 133.17, I had Ethan ask his parents and they weren't sure. I figured it was a backup for LRP26, cause after they started using 33.67 again, 33.17 was never to be heard again. Why don't you get the other guys to join with different names, so then we know who's who. Use your OI's :D
Take it easy,
Ed

A few of the guys are thinking about registering. I gave them this user name so they could listen to clips without registering. For now, we like being anonymous since you guys wouldn't know our operating initials anyway. Boy, if only you could hear the cross talk in the area or what's on the land-lines. That's where the real entertainment is.

I bet it is! I always love hearing you guys press the wrong button and give the pointouts and handoff's on the freq. Provides us listeners chained to our computers <g> (J/K, we love this stuff on the computer) with entertainment for the moment.
Hope things are going well; tell the guys we appreciate all of their posts and visits to the site and forums!
-
Tell me about it, I love landline talk. I think thats one of the best parts. Why do you think I post landline clips whenever I can! I wish they ran of frequencies.
-
We were talking last night about how we wish we had clips of some of the greatest clearances we've ever heard. Things like "Descend like a piano. Make the houses look bigger." "The only way you're getting lower is with a parachute." Another time someone gave a descent clearance and the co-pilot said the captain wanted to stay at FL370. The controller came back with "The captain can stay there, but you and the rest of the plane start down now." Nobody remembers who said it anymore, but it should be in the Hall of Fame. Trainee excuses like "I was just about to do that when you took the frequency from me" and "Well, it worked yesterday" would be another good category.
-
have noticed the north to south CLE ARTCC IS 127.475,124.325,126.725,121.2,and 124.4. 127.475 is syr dep and buf, roc, syr arr from south,124.325 is pit arr from 260-240 and then gets handed off to 126.725 also 124.325 is med level traff from wash dc area to buf yyz,and cle,121.2 is pit dep to phl and 124.4 is pit arrival via nesto intersection since i was out in the state college area of penn this week while delivering packasges on my new job also heard rtons opf potomac stuff
-
hello swissdale welcome and i believe phl dep starts at 126.075-124.625-132.875 toward PSB AND 134.8 OR 133.35 DEPENDING ON DEPARTURE DESTINATION MAN IT'S GREAT TO SEE LIVE CONTROLLERS ABOARD THE FORUM TO ASK QUESTIONS OF GOD BLESS YOU GUYS FOR KEEPING US AFE IN THE AIR
-
SINCE LISTENING TO THE PIT FEED I WAS WONDERING BECAUSE THE PIT DEP'S THAT GO TO LETS SAY PWM TO THE NEW YORK AIRPORT ARE HANDED OFF FROM PIT DEP TO AN UNK FREQUENCY THAT IS BARELY READABLE I WAS WONDERING IF IT COULD BE 126.725,134.475,OR 124.325 ? ANYONE PER CHANCE KNOW I DO KNOW THOUGH THE OTHER CLE ARTCC FREQUENCIES THEY ARE HANDED OFF TO ARE 121.2,128.15,126.95,AND 120.6 BUT THE EWC DEP ROUTING I CANT UNDERSTAND WHICH IS THE FREQUENCY
-
Wow Mike three post in under 10 minutes, 1 1/2 in full caps  I doubt they know much about ZOB or ZDC. And FYI, 126.07 is Philly North High and is rarely used. It's 124.35 95% of time.
-
126.075 I hear in the early morning's then turns into 124.625 thereafter. Was listening to potomac approach from 125.425(cle artcc) to 133.65,134.15,123.825 then to 125.525(bwi) and 128.7(dca) also heard indy center 133.775 over the appelton vor and cle artcc over central ohio(119.875,133.3875,and 120.325)
-
126.72 is the Clarion sector, 121.2 is the Tyrone sector, and 124.32 is the Bradford sector, all at Cleveland Center. Clarion and Tyrone are FL230 and below, and Bradford is FL270 and below (at least that's the altitudes at the ZNY boundary.) 134.47 is sector 10 at ZNY, high altitude over Harrisburg.
-
Alright Fella's the ZNY feed is now back up. Now talk to us :D Just to let you guys know, since I scan three main frequencies. If you say something and someone on another freq is talking then the scan will stop on them and your transmission will be lost.
Ed
I want to add that the Parke39 sector always give me problems. Simply because in the Pro-95, it just so happens one of the birdie frequencies is 132.1. So that makes that sector scratchy, I keep telling myself I will get a base scanner.
