What kind of antenna will I need?

Ok,

I have a Pro-82 scanner and generally listen to Manchester ATC the best I can but I can't actually hear ATC, just transmissions from aircraft. I live about 20 Miles from the airport, so I was wondering if I could use some sort of different aeriel or an antenna so I can listen in clearly?

I saw an interesting article in the March Popular Communications magazine on how to build a 3 element aircraft band beam (directional) antenna. It looked fairly easy and it had the plans on how to do it as well. You can read about it here---> http://www.popular-communications.com/PC%20Highlights%20March08.html Scroll down to the antenna room section, or pick up a copy of the mag. I think i'm going to try it.
