West Coast Exercise Bamboo Eagle
« on: August 06, 2024, 10:32:14 UTC »
This is a large military air exercise currently underway on the West Coast. From the UK I could listen to KC-135 and KC-46 tankers operating out of Mather (KMHR) and McClellan (KMCC) last night by using those airports tower freqs. These aircraft were transiting back an forth from the exercise area over the Pacific south west of San Diego. There are also fast jets operating out of March AFB, Santa Maria, Victorville and NAF El Centro. Is there a Centre control frequency that I could monitor on Live ATC that might pick up all these aircraft as they transit LA airspace?

Most of the tanker traffic seems to be transitioning the Los Angeles area via LAX-SXC into the Warning Areas. This airspace over LA is covered by ZLA30, 119.950, FL240 and above or ZLA21, 132.850, FL230 and below. There are various LiveATC feeds that cover these 2 frequencies. During the times I was monitoring ZLA was handing the tankers off into the Warning Areas to Beaver Control on either 120.850 or 266.900, I'm not aware of any LiveATC radios that cover these Beaver frequencies.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone in the SOCAL area that can hear Beaver or has good area coverage that could provide a list of frequencies they are using in the Warning Areas. Or better yet a temporary feed covering those Warning Area frequencies.

There around 10 KC-135 and KC-46 tankers airborne currently.
An trail heading South from Mather and McClellan > all tracking south via the north east of Fresno then over Bakersfield. Most Southerly of the trail currently passing overhead Santa Monica.

It's not listed on the feed frequency page, but I've been monitoring a lot of ZOA UHF sectors, and added some more UHF air-air. ZOA comes in 5x5 but most of the action is too far south for me to pick up. Some fighters have been coming in and out of Travis as well.
