Hola,
Yes, this antenna will receive 118.0-137.0 MHz.
I use it also and is very good. Here is my DPD VHF antenna which I use for the KOAK
(Oakland Airport) audio feed. I painted my antenna white.

Hey Ken, I just saw the pictures of your homemade airband Yagi.  Do you have the information to build one of these?  Or is it on this forum somewhere?  Thanks, Ron

The Rami AV-1 looks similar to the Arrow GP126 - 1/4 Wave Ground Plane - (Aircraft Band) antenna.

I also use the Arrow antenna and recommend it. It is simple in design and is a good price.
J-Poles are a good choice too. I use my homebuilt J-Pole for the Oakland Center ZOA feed.
For good price/performance I would go with the Arrow 1/4 Wave Ground Plane antenna.

Good luck!

Hi Ron,

The boom which I painted black as seen in the photos was made from wood. After a year outdoors in the rain wind and sun, the boom began to warp. It was still directional though.  :-)

I've been using fiberglass tubes to add strength to my homebrew antenna projects. Check out http://www.goodwinds.com/ for fiberglass supplies used in kite making.

Hi Ken,

Yes it's exactly that warping you mentioned that I was wondering about.  I'd hate to set up one of these on my roof and then have to fix it a year from now.  My days of repeated climbing on my sloped roof are over :)

At the moment I'm using odds and ends that I found in my basement to put one together.  I'm anxious to see how it works.  As I mentioned in another thread there are a few ZBW center freqs near me where the ground controller can just barely be heard among the background noise, but only if the squelsch is turned down.  I'm hoping this antenna will improve that.  I'm currently streaming one of those freqs in question.  It would nice if I could provide the ground controller as well.  We'll see...
