Uniden BCT15 Feedback Requested
« on: December 05, 2007, 01:08:07 PM »
I would appreciate any feedback from users of the Uniden BCT15. The specifications for this radio claim it has .4 uV of sensitivity for the 108-136.975 MHz. Airband. This seems pretty impressive if it is really true and not advertising hype! Compared to the Radio Shack PRO-2055 @ 1 uV and PRO-433 @ 1.6 uV the BCT15 sounds like a pretty hot receiver for Airband moniotring.

Thanks,

I recently just purchased the BCT15 for the KSUU feed I run. Before I was using a used handheld Uniden scanner. As soon as I hooked up the BCT15 I did notice ATC was coming in alot better than the handheld. If your looking to pick up some UHF frequencies its a good choice. Im very happy with the reception and the options you have with the BCT15. Im sure there's alot more I have to learn with the scanner as its very complex in comparison to the handheld I previously used.

Folks, how would you rate the audio using the BCT15's Line Out jack?

I just received my new BC898T yesterday, and am simply appalled with its Line Out.  In scan mode, the 1st couple of seconds of each transmission is clipped off each & every time, making it basically useless for use as a LiveATC feed.  There's also a "cluncking" sound at the beginning of each transmission, but I've found a mod on the Internet that takes care of the cluncks.  But it's the clipping of the first couple of seconds that I'm concerned with.

For anyone using a BCT15 trough its Line Out jack, is this clipping also present with your BCT15s?  I'm going to be returning my BC898T, but don't want to replace it with a BCT15 if it's going to have the same clipping.

Thanks in advance.

Check out radioreference.com - they deal in that sort of thing.  And plenty of other sites as well.  This site is about airband reception.
