TV Segments - ATC Staffing Shortage
« on: November 07, 2006, 06:22:50 PM »
I found the following links to TV segments from Louisville International ATCT's (SDF) website (http://sdf.natca.net/):

http://www.wlky.com/video/9772272/detail.html
http://www.wlky.com/video/9758141/detail.html
http://www.wlky.com/video/9769496/detail.html

I watched all three segments and figured many members here would be interested in viewing them as well.  At least some media outlets are properly portraying the typical FAA and congressional bureaucracy causing today's staffing crisis.  Hopefully things will get better in the future...if they don't, I believe the current crisis is just going to intensify (something I most certainly do not look forward to).

Thanks for the post Jason. I've been back and fourth many times debating with myself what to do in my life, flying being one of my greatest passions. Over the years I've become more interested in ATC but im not sure if being a controller is something i'd really want to be. Seeing things like this makes me want to become a contoller, but financially I'd rather spend money on flying :/

To paraphrase an old joke....

Q: How can you tell marion Blakey is lying?
A: Her lips are moving.

Too bad it's not funny...

Here's another great report done by ABC 7 in Chicago:

It includes numerous interviews and even landline intercommunication call clips between ZAU and C90.
