TV Antenna for Airband?

Since a large outdoor TV antenna mounted on a mask can be used for FM also, which is right next to the airband frequency, will they work well for monitoring airband?  I figure since these antennas are directional and have many elements they should pick up airband very well.  Does anyone have any experience with this or do you know of an antenna that is made specifically for airband which is a base antenna?
