Tough night at Kuwait International
« on: May 15, 2007, 01:29:45 PM »
It is a windy day . Cloudy . it is lightening ... something not usual in kuwait in this time of the year .

they had more than 5 airplanes in the hold , one of which is for H.H. the prince - call sigh is KUWAITI 001 . And they started to divert some flights to Bahrain and Dammam .

It has been more than an hour since a an airplance has landed .

I hope guys at control will handle this night successfully ... I am sure they will do because they had been through this many times ...

It is interesting to listen how the ATC controllers are handling it . Good Luck guys and those still stuck in the sky .. we are praying for you ! Good Luck !

Thanks .
Yousef

yup they are having a tough time. But they usually handle it well. Remember that the pilot has to make all the decision to divert. Even the Amir's plane couldn't land. Yeah good luck to em!

You can see everything on my radar site

Hi whocares ,,,

Yeah ..  Even the controller was suggesting to pilots to divert to Bahrain . The LUFTHANZA guys sounds worried about the situation I guess .
One funny thing happened when one pilot asked to land although he is No.2 right before H.H the prince's  plane . Speaking of which , I saw that great Boeing 747 yesterday taking off from the airport and making a short flight in Kuwait sky and return back to the airport ... I expected it is a test flight for a VIP flight .

Okk .. the good news now planes started to land ..... there are many now in the skies ... even the controller got confused between TEHRAN flight , 512 , and Damascus one , 552 .  Anyway , he is doing a great job .

Keep it up OKBK !

Yousef

I bet guys at Kuwait Tower had an awful morning today .  The sand storm had decreased the visibilty to the minimum limits . I could hear some plane buzzing when they took off but I  couldnt see them !!

I think it is gonna be another tough one tonight , Thursday , due to the bad weather circumstances . So , to all listeners ... tune in to OKBK and enjoy the experienced controllers handling the situation ....

And to the guys at OKBK ... ALL THE BEST !

Yousef

You know I'de LOVE it if the guys at the OKBK could pitch in. Maybe I'll drop a hint one day on the radio one day when I'm flying for them to join the forum. That would be fun. Have you noticed that the Kuwait Airport site has been down for a few days now? www.kuwait-airport.com.kw

I wonder what's up with that?

15 May started around 1800 Zulu. Then all was ok till 2200 on the 16th when the dust started and the RVR dropped.

Yeah , whocares , that is correct . I was wondering what the problem with the site . I used to log in to check the weather status or to see what flights in & out of the airport .

It would be nice to have the guys at OKBK log in !

Yesterday , I learned that the aviation activities were down in the morning and flights coming in had been diverted to DOHA and BAHRAIN .

Because of the bad weather , many car accidents occurred yesterday .  You know , sometimes I think it is much safer to navigate in the sky than to drive a car on the high ways here ! hahahaha .

Yousef
