A tornado has torn through Florida's Lakeland-Linder Airport, site of Sun n' Fun Fly-In. Early reports of a hangar collapsing and trapping a large number of attendees have, fortunately, proven to be unfounded but there is a lot of damage in the area.

I was there. This was part of a system that produced 9 tornadoes. In fact we were caught out in the open when it hit very hard and abruptly and we got on our hands and knees behind a structure while everything was flying and just hoped it would hold. I have several pix, but that video pretty much captures it. There were reports of between 50 and 80 airplanes damaged or destroyed. The video mentions AirCam in particular. We had just been through there. They had 4 or 5 airplanes on display and a nice covered display and everything they had was completely wiped out, which was sad. No doubt millions of dollars of damage just at Sun N Fun by the time they add it up, and the surrounding area was hit very hard as well.
