Title: Thinking about setting up a feed for DPA(Dupage)
Post by: wabsrck on January 19, 2008, 11:06:14 AM
I live about 3 miles away from DPA and was thinking about setting up a feed.  Would I need to use an external antenna if I was that close?  Also I am on a semi-tight budget so what base station should I get?

At three miles you don't need an external antenna; a proper outdoor antenna will generally give clearer reception. You want to keep an indoor antenna away from noise sources (like computers and fluorescent lights). You don't need an expensive scanner either, but I have no experience with US brands.

Thank you I'm looking at buying a used scanner off ebay and should start working on setting it up sometime in the next 2 weeks.  Does anyone know of any sites that already host this feed?

As far as I know LiveATC.net is "The Site". You may find individual streams at other websites, but the biggest collection is here.
